Biography
Clemens Apprich is Head of the Department of Media Theory and the Peter Weibel Research Institute for Digital Cultures at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where he has been Professor of Media Theory and History since 2021. Since autumn 2023, he has also been Vice President for Research and Digitality.
In 2011, he became a research associate at the Centre for Digital Cultures at Leuphana University Lüneburg, where he was also a visiting professor from 2017 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019 he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University in Montreal and from 2020 to 2021 Assistant Professor in Media Studies at the University of Groningen. Apprich is a member of the Assembly of Delegates of the Austrian Science Fund FWF and the Digital Democracies Institute at Simon Fraser University.
